What Our Students Say

My Life at Langdon

I came to Langdon College in 2004. I was so happy when I heard that I was going to a Jewish Special needs college for people who have learning difficulties. I stayed at Tewkesbury Drive which was very nice and a very good experience to live away from home. Langdon College provides a good education that suits individuals. Over the last three years I have gained more confidence in everything I have done. I have learnt to be more sociable and been more independent by having a lesson called Independent Living Skills. I have learnt to clean, cook, iron, and been able to travel around by myself. This year I have achieved a qualification in ICT and Skills for Life. I have really enjoyed being here.

My Experience of Langdon College - by Corinne Weisbein

I have been at Langdon College for 3 years now I started in 2004. I have made friends and have a boyfriend. When I started I was really nervous but I eventually grew in confidence. I did a work placement in Marks and Spencer's in Prestwich in my 1st year when I finished Marks and Spencer's I worked in Woolworths in Cheetham Hill. When I finished my work placement in Woolworths I did a work placement in Sainsbury's in Middleton. I used to live in Tewkesbury Drive with 4 other girls and 1 boy. Now I live in a Semi-independent flat.

In my 1st year the sessions I had were cookery, Basic Skills, ILS, PHSE and ICT. The sessions I had in my 2nd year was IT, cookery, Skills for life, ILS, and the sessions in my 3rd year was Sports, Skills for life, IT, Community access, Team Enterprise and cookery. My favourite session at Langdon College is cookery because I like making biscuits and cakes especially with chocolate!

Work Experience

I had work experience at Langdon, Manson's and The Cultural Centre

I liked doing Work Experience at Manson's the best as I liked the people I worked with.

Activities

I have done Swimming, Sport, Bowling, going to the pub, and socialising

I like socialising the best

Lessons

I've had lessons in independent Living skills, ICT, Literacy Numeracy & Communication, Drama, Health and Safety, Health & Fitness, Cookery etc.

I like my swimming lesson the best in Health & Fitness.

While I've been at Langdon I got to go to Bury College and City College for Vocational courses.

I liked Bury College as I enjoyed it the most

I have been here for 3 years. I have enjoyed it here at Langdon College. I have learnt a lot of things like how to use the oven using oven gloves.

In my second year I did a childcare course and I enjoyed it and I passed the exam. I got a distinction.

I am hoping that next year I will be able to carry on at Bury College on a higher level childcare course.

I have made lots of friends and I have met lots of new people.

I have been going to work experience at Happy Tots and King David and worked with children.

The activities have been fun and I enjoyed going out on the weekends and weekdays to lots of places.

My favourite sessions at Langdon College have been ICT, cookery, ILS and skills for life.
I have also enjoyed going swimming and going to the gym.

I have achieved so much over the 3 years.

I would like to say thank you to all the staff and support staff at Langdon College.
